Job Title: Social Work Lecturer
What does your job at RGU involve?
Supporting, teaching and inspiring students towards becoming competent and confident social workers. My main responsibilities include being a personal tutor, supporting students on placement and giving lectures on social work theory and methods, social policy and children and families.
What attracted you to come to work at RGU?
I studied here myself and had a great experience; the teaching is second to none. The campus is vibrant and inclusive with a positive atmosphere. I knew RGU would give me the continuous development opportunities I strived for and I was really keen to work with students and bring what I could from the field into the classroom.
If you weren’t doing this job, what, in an ideal world, would you like to do for a living?
Most likely something worthwhile that would contribute to tackling global warming and climate change…or a professional pizza taster.
What’s your favourite place in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire?
The River Dee when the daffodils cover the banks in springtime.
Best holiday you’ve had and why?
I travelled through Southeast Asia for 4 months when I was in my mid-twenties. I loved experiencing their cultures, trying new foods and ziplining my way from country to country.
Favourite TV show?
Brian Cox – Wonders of the Universe or anything narrated by David Attenborough. If I am in the mood for a giggle it has to be BBC’s Two Doors Down.
Favourite band/music?
P!NK. I also have a guilty pleasure for folk and country music.
If you’re going to a restaurant and could only have one thing to eat (one course), what would it be?
An authentic Italian pizza
If you were in charge of the university for one day, what’s the first thing you would do?
Free slices of pizza for everyone?
