Name: Isabelle Simm
Job Title: Lecturer in Psychology
What does your job at RGU involve?
I’ll mostly be teaching introductory psychology modules to first year students studying applied social sciences. I specialise in sport and exercise psychology, so I’m really excited to be teaching that, too!
What attracted you to come to work at RGU?
The multidisciplinary team and courses here, as well as the opportunity to live somewhere different for a while.
If you weren’t doing this job, what, in an ideal world, would you like to do for a living? In another life I’d probably have an animal rescue full of wee lambs and kittens.
What’s your favourite place in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire?
I’m new here, but so far it’s the beach. It’s been a while since I’ve lived close to a beach so I’m enjoying it – even on these ‘lovely’ summer rainy/windy days!
Best holiday you’ve had and why?
A few years ago I toured some of America in an RV, covering California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. Monument Valley in Utah has got to be one of the most beautiful places ever. There’s nothing quite like seeing the stars from the middle of the desert!
Favourite TV show?
Tough to pick just one, but Firefly and Veronica Mars are up there on the list.
Favourite band/music?
I’ll never get sick of listening to The Neighbourhood.
If you’re going to a restaurant and could only have one thing to eat (one course), what would it be?
Dessert! Something chocolatey.
If you were in charge of the university for one day, what’s the first thing you would do?
Free gym memberships for staff and students!
