We do have a very wide range of different views, personalities and opinions at RGU (it’s part of being a university!) and one of the most interesting questions in our 60 second interviews with members of staff is the one that asks what they would like to do if they weren’t working for us… Dave Nicholls has sky-high ambitions in this respect, although it would involve him moving to Australia (which is a bit difficult at the moment), so he might have to settle for his second choice, which you’ll be able to find out about below…
Name: Dave Nicholls
Job Title: Part-time Lecturer
What does your job at RGU involve?
Lecturing in health and safety.
What attracted you to come to work at RGU?
Reputation of university and the opportunity to use my 26+ years of health and safety experience to help develop our managers and safety professionals of the future.
If you weren’t doing this job, what, in an ideal world, would you like to do for a living? Flying Doctor Pilot in Australia or crop duster pilot.
What’s your favourite place in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire?
Top of Bennachie
Best holiday you’ve had and why?
Well not a holiday really. A sabbatical working at the University of Kansas but gave me the opportunity to do some solo flying over Kansas in a Cessna 152.
Favourite TV show?
Scooby Doo
Favourite band/music?
Haven’t got one – I like all sorts of music.
If you’re going to a restaurant and could only have one thing to eat (one course), what would it be?
Something with big juicy prawns.
If you were in charge of the university for one day, what’s the first thing you would do?
Free coffee for all….not that I would be trying to make myself popular or anything like that
