What attracted you to come to work at RGU?
As previous student of RGU I was amazed how the staff were accommodating and understanding towards the students. The open-door policy and the partnership was something that I didn’t experience in my previous university. I felt valued through my studies and being called young professionals by the lecturing staff really gave a boost to student confidence and was very helpful in my achieving the goals I wanted. When I heard that this position was available the choice was simple – I wanted to be a part of that great team and help make other people’s tomorrow’s better.

Tell us something that has surprised you about working at RGU.
It was amazing how I was welcomed by everyone at the RGU, from the very beginning I felt like a part of the RGU family. I have never felt such a valued member of the team and their support have been outstanding.
Describe living in North East of Scotland in three words.
The North East of Scotland is a great place to live, with amazing opportunities for those who are willing to put an effort into their career development. If you are hardworking and put a pride in your commitments someone will notice it and all the hard work will pay off.
What are your favourite leisure/non-work activities and how well are they catered for in and around Aberdeen?
I love spending my free time on adventures, from road trips to chilled moments in SPA – all widely available across the North East.
What is your favourite place to go out for a meal in the North East and why?
If I am looking for a romantic evening with my partner I always choose The Rendezvous at Nargile – located in the quiet are of West end of Aberdeen with great selection of Turkish food and lovely atmosphere (a long-established, great Aberdeen institution – Ed) . On the other end when I am rushing around all day with no chance to eat I usually end up in The Shack– located on Union Street: it’s a buffet type restaurant with great selection of worldwide dishes. It is much quieter than the popular Cosmo where is rather noisy and hard to have a conversation.
What would you say to anyone who is contemplating a move to RGU to persuade them it’s the right career move?
For me it was a great career move as I am valued and feel like I can make a change and achieve great things in my life, which in my perception is more important than any monetary value. I am waking up in the morning with the smile on my face and going to work is not an everyday struggle anymore, totally the opposite. I am looking forward what tomorrow brings and what challenges I would be able to overcome.
