Job Title: Lecturer

What does your job at RGU involve?

In the nutshell – teaching. But in reality, helping the students to become confident, knowledgeable professionals respecting their individual needs, likes and aspirations.

What attracted you to come to work at RGU?

I have a long history with RGU, graduating with First Class Honours in Architectural Technology in 2014. After some time in the public and private sector I have now returned to undertake my PhD on health and wellbeing in the context of retrofit, using the perspective of health promotion and salutogenic theory. I am delighted to be part of the RGU community once more.

If you weren’t doing this job, what, in an ideal world, would you like to do for a living?

Teaching people how to care and be kind, in everything we do, how to thrive in nature, respecting planetary boundaries and inclusion of all living organisms including non-humans. I may yet have a chance to do this at RGU.

What’s your favourite place in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire?

I love the hills, being on the doorstep of the Cairngorms, but I also enjoy the closeness of the wilderness of the coast and historic charm of places such as Crovie or Sandend. Scotland is my home of choice and I am constantly amazed by its beauty. I’m also enjoy visiting NTS gardens and soak in their beauty in the summer sunshine.

Best holiday you’ve had and why?

Camping in Glencoe – you can’t get closer to being one with nature, than in this magical place.

Favourite TV show?

Recently, Shetland – for the beautiful Scottish accent and scenery

Favourite band/music?

It has always been rock and metal but in the recent years I have become fond of modern folk, listening to some amazing Scottish artists such as Karine Polwart and Moteh Parrott.

If you’re going to a restaurant and could only have one thing to eat (one course), what would it be?

Coffee and fresh sourdough bread!

If you were in charge of the university for one day, what’s the first thing you would do?

I would start a gardening club for the students and the local community.
