Name: Kwadjo Konadu
Job Title: Demonstrator (School of Health Sciences)
What does your job at RGU involve?
I work in a supporting role to assist the module coordinator and lecturers, who deliver and teach on the MSc in Public Health and Health promotion course. I mainly contribute to organising class activities and workshops during module sessions. Importantly my role is designed and supervised by my line-manager to facilitate my professional development and to be able to share my experiences as an early career researcher with students during their research project module (HSM045).
What attracted you to come to work at RGU?
You must understand that I first arrived in RGU as a master’s student from Ghana in Western Africa. I attribute my progress and development into a doctoral researcher to the environment and resources made available to me in this university. I feel as part of the whole research community and supported with my own research work. When the opportunity came to take on this demonstrator role, I took it because RGU is a fantastic university where everyone is included.
If you weren’t doing this job, what, in an ideal world, would you like to do for a living?
I would most likely be a dance choreographer. Whilst growing, I loved performing for my family and friends. I love the ARTS.
What’s your favourite place in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire?
I love the shire: Aberdeen – and Scotland at large – is so beautiful and preserved. I visit the Miltonhaven caravan park often.
Best holiday you’ve had and why?
I travelled to New York in 2019 with my brother and two best friends to celebrate the 50th Pride anniversary. It had taken years to plan and being there with them was the best thing. It is always a good vibe with people you love. New York just loved us back. Happy days.
Favourite TV show?
The Emmy Winning “RuPauls Drag Race”.
Favourite band/music?
Lucky Dube
If you’re going to a restaurant and could only have one thing to eat (one course), what would it be?Can I have barbequed ribs and fries for the rest of my life ………. please ???
If you were in charge of the university for one day, what’s the first thing you would do?
I would organise the university and its affiliated alumina to “plant 10 trees” in every country which is represented on by its students on RGU’s campus. (That is a tough question!)
